MGB Awarded Principal Contractor Status after Bunchrew Success
MGB Signalling successfully commissioned the level crossing improvements over 2 stages. The first being in Oct 2009 when the Driver Crossing Indications and Wig-wags were converted over to L.E.D heads and the existing approach track circuits changed from low voltage battery fed track circuits to Diode track circuits fed direct from the crossing Location case. For this to happen, an additional Location case was required as well as alterations in the existing ones.
The second commissioning was to accommodate a speed change and additional Self Powered overspeed sensor (SPOSS) which involved the repositioning of the strike in track circuits, new speedboards,Advanced Warning signage, repositioning of the permanent magnet, repositioning the existing SPOSS as well as commissioning the new additional SPOSS. These works were carried out successfully in January 2010 to the satisfaction of the client Network Rail.
